The Breakthrough Ambassador Program brings together passionate individuals who care deeply about mental health and want to turn that care into meaningful action.
Our ambassadors are community advocates, fundraisers, storytellers, and connectors. They help raise awareness, reduce stigma, and fund vital mental health research through their networks, workplaces, and communities.
It’s belonging to a purpose-driven community working together to create real change.
Mental illness touches every part of our community, yet research remains critically underfunded.
Raising awareness of mental health and wellbeing
Leading or supporting fundraising initiatives
Sharing lived or shared experience where appropriate
Representing Breakthrough with integrity and care
Helping fund life-changing mental health research
As an ambassador, you’ll be supported, trained, recognised, and connected to a like-minded community who believes change happens when people show up together.
Each Breakthrough Ambassador is supported to aim for a fundraising goal of $3,307 per year.
This number represents the 3,307 lives lost to suicide in Australia in 2024.
It’s a shared goal with real meaning, real impact, and a powerful story.
(Funds raised support Breakthrough’s mental health research priorities in line with organisational governance and funding strategy.)

Breakthrough acknowledges the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the first inhabitants of this nation and the traditional custodians of the lands where we live, learn and work. We recognise all Australian communities who, through their lived experience, help to guide the research funded by Breakthrough.
Breakthrough acknowledges those with lived experiences of mental illness. Every person’s story is uniquely theirs with their own challenges and triumphs, hopes and dreams; but together, we all share the same desire to live a life of connection, belonging and freedom. We are grateful to those who are willing to share their stories, and for the opportunities to listen.
