Researchers: Lead Chief Investigator: Associate Professor Tobias Loetscher; Co-Investigators: Megan Corlis, Associate Professor Amanda Hutchinson, Associate Professor Ross Smith, Associate Professor Hannah Keage, University of Adelaide, NALHN
Priority Area: Depression
Overview: People with a terminal illness are vulnerable to depression and anxiety. These mental health issues have severe implications for quality of life, end of life decision making and burden on the family. Building on promising pilot data, this project will use Virtual Reality as an innovative method to reduce symptoms of depression and increase wellbeing. In collaboration with Modbury Hospital, palliative care patients will virtually experience places and activities that are meaningful to them from their hospital bed.
