Empowering parents to intervene early when their child has anorexia nervosa
Flinders University 2021
Researcher: Professor Tracey Wade
The primary aim of this pilot study is to examine the feasibility and acceptability of an online Family Based Therapy (FBT) for families on the waitlist to receive FBT for their child with anorexia nervosa. Thirty carers will be given immediate access to the online FBT with weekly support offered by postgraduate clinical psychology trainees. After recruitment of 30 families, subsequent families will only be offered wait list “treatment as usual”. This is a consecutive-cohort, non-randomised design. This research addresses a major real-world problem related to accessible FBT and will inform future use of online FBT in the Australian context.
