The Mental Health Space with Alan Hickey airs fortnightly on FIVEaa Adelaide.

This week on FIVEaa’s Mental Health Space we discussed the impact physical activity and sport can have on mental health.

Physical activity can protect against feelings of distress, enhance our psychological well-being, protect against symptoms of anxiety, protect against depressive symptoms and delay the effects of dementia and the cognitive decline associated with ageing.

Alan Hickey was joined by John Mannion, Breakthrough Executive Director, Chris Burns, South Australians Mental Health Commissioner, Leah Cassidy, Sport SA Chief Executive Officer and Alli Evans and Ebony Philcox, lived experience, mental health advocates.

This show originally aired on 25 June, 2019.

We’re thrilled to be leading this fortnightly show on Tuesday’s to share the latest from mental health researchers, clinicians and those with lived experiences.
