Our scheduled #CrazySocks4Docs Breakfast will be postponed until further notice due to Covid-19 and the restrictions put in place by the federal government. Once there is a clear picture on the current situation, we look forward to sharing our plans for this event with you.
#CrazySocks4Docs aims to raise awareness of mental health issues experienced by doctors. Doctors experience the full range of mental health issues – anxiety, depression, burn out, fear, anger. It’s time for us to shine a spotlight on this endemic issue of mental health amongst us. The #CrazySocks4Docs campaign was started in 2017 by Dr Geoff Toogood, who has championed mental health support for doctors after his own battle with mental illness. “It is so important that doctors start talking to each other, to their family and friends about mental illness”, says Dr Toogood. “Having a conversation about how you’re feeling is the first step.” “Doctors need to look after each other so that we can look after everyone else.” South Australian Salaried Medical Officers Association (SASMOA) and Doctors Health SA present the #CrazySocks4Docs breakfast with all ticket proceeds donated to the Breakthrough Mental Health Research Foundation who are dedicated to supporting doctors by tackling mental health head on.
